League City "State of the City Address"

League City Mayor Jeff Harrison delivered his first "State of the City Address" to the League City Chamber of Commerce on Friday, at the South Shore Harbour Country Club.

He said League City is in good shape.  "The city council did a good job this past year by reducing the tax rate and also for the first time, reduced the water and sewer rate."

Harrison said the city's economic development efforts have been extended to California, New Braunfels and Houston.  “We went there and told them, ‘We want you to come to League City. We have a lot to offer.’”

He said Schlitterbahn is planning to locate a water park in the Gulf Coast region.  "In three years they are going to open up a new facility in Galveston County."

Harrison said the Schiltterbahn Park may not be located in League City, "but if it is in Galveston County, that's good for the whole county."

He noted that American National Insurance Company is about to start construction of a $35 million office building and data center.

Harrison also reviewed several road projects and transportation improvement programs.
