Members of the International Association of Firefighters Local 571 met with City of Galveston officials in a negotiating session on Tuesday. 

"We had a positive discussion today," said Lowell Denton, chief negotiator for the City of Galveston.  "The city put its first pay package proposal on the table today, based on the joint survey that our committee, the city staff team and the firefighters team, have done in the past few weeks."

At the next session, at a date to be set, the firefighters will present a counter proposal on wage issues.
