Laura Recovery Center

The Laura Recovery Center today presented their Triangle of Trust award to Congressman Nick Lampson, Alvin Police Chief Mike Merkel and the Alvin Police Department and Pastor Bruce Peterson of the South Park Baptist Church in Alvin.

"Congressman Nick Lampson founded the Congressional Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children in memory of Laura Kate Smither, for whom the LRC is named," said a news release.  "Chief Mike Merkel and the Alvin Police Department exhibited true dedication and compassion for family members and searchers during their investigation of the disappearance of 7-year old Araceli Trevino of Alvin October 21 and Pastor Bruce Peterson of the South Park Baptist Church opened his church to serve as a recovery center during the search for Araceli and ministered to her family after she was found."

"The Triangle of Trust award is given to individuals and organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to a trusting relationship among law enforcement, communities and families of missing children," said the release.

Gay Smither presented the Triangle of Trust award to  Lampson in Washington D.C. at a ceremony in the Rayburn House Office Building.
