Galveston County Politics

Gilbert Torres has withdrawn his candidacy for Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 in the Republican Primary.  No other Republicans have filed for the position, leaving Democrat Darrel Apffel, who has no opponents in his primary, unopposed in the November general election.

Apffel is currently serving as JP Precinct 5; he was appointed by Galveston County Commissioners Court to fill the unexpired term of Patrick Doyle, who resigned to run for County Commissioner Precinct Two.
