| Astronomers
of the past set the foundation for today's astronomy and we
have come along way since Galileo's first telescope.
Stargazers of all ages are invited on a journey through
outer space as Moody Gardens hosts its Evening Star Party,
scheduled from dusk to 11 p.m., Saturday, February 21st,
2004.
Led by the staff from the
Discovery Pyramid, and members of the Johnson Space Center
Astronomical Society, the Star Party will feature a variety
of large, powerful telescopes perfect for gazing at the
heavens from alongside the Discovery Pyramid.
View the vast infinities of
space from all angles with reflectors and refractors, the
two primary types of telescopes to be used that evening.
Learn more about the moon, constellations, stars, planets
and galaxies of the universe.
"Star Parties offer a
great opportunity for people of all ages to learn about our
solar system and the Milky Way galaxy," said Discovery
Pyramid Manager Johanna Goforth. "Whether you're a
first-time star gazer or a seasoned astronomer buff, you'll
have fun zooming in on the moon and distant galaxies."
The sky is the limit.
Admission is Free. For more information about Evening Star
Parties at Moody Gardens call 1/800/582-4673 ext.-4233.
