Andy
Bradley, SugarHill Recording Studios Chief Engineer has received
a 20-year achievement award for his work at Rice University's
Shepherd School of Music.
"Working
20 years at one job in one building is quite an accomplishment,
but doing it in two different businesses is even more
amazing", Bradley commented on his achievements.
Andy Bradley is the Chief
Engineer for both the legendary SugarHill Recording Studios in
Houston, as well as Rice University's Shepherd School of
Music.
"I realize that I have the
longest tenure of any of the recording engineers that have
graced the history of this magnificent facility (SugarHill
Recording Studios) except for its founder, Bill Quinn,"
Bradley added.
Bradley has engineered/produced
Grammy nominated projects, with extensive credits in Classical,
Jazz, Latin, Blues, Rock, Folk, Country, and every imaginable
flavor of Gospel Music. He has also worked with national record
labels such as Capitol/EMI, WEA, Fonovisa, Rounder, Vanguard,
BMG, Demon, and Koch International. Many of his recordings have
achieved RIAA gold record certification.
"The most memorable
highlight was the day that Rodney Meyers, Dan Workman, and I sat
in a Denny's restaurant and decided to form RAD Audio Inc., and
buy SugarHill Studios from Modern Music Ventures. Being
recognized by Billboard Magazine in 2002 as one of the top three
studios in the country is another milestone that I will never
forget", Bradley added.
Bradley has enjoyed recording
Texas music legends such as Calvin Owens, vocalist
extraordinaire, Tommie Lee Bradley, and guitar heroes Kenny
Cordray and Bert Wills. And if he is not in the studio
recording, he is busy chronicling the 65 years of musical
history at SugarHill Recording Studios (formerly known as Gold
Star) in his book. A CD of memorable re-recordings of hits that
emanated from SugarHill will also accompany the book. Proceeds
will benefit the Musicians Benevolent Society.
"Touring on the road in
Australia with the legendary rock band, Radio Birdman in the
late 1970s, I never imagined that I would be part owner and
Chief engineer of a historical recording studio and the Chief
Engineer at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University. I am
blessed".
