Colon
Cancer – Are You At Risk?
American Cancer
Society Presents Free Public Education
Conference Saturday, February 26, 2005
Many Houston-area citizens don't know that
colon cancer is one of the most preventable
types of cancer, even though it is the
second leading cause of cancer death in the
United States, claiming more lives than
either breast or prostate cancer.
The American Cancer Society is offering a
free community colon cancer forum 8:30 a.m.
to noon on Saturday, February 26 at The
Power Center, 12401 South Post Oak Road.
Doctors, dietitians, social workers and
cancer survivors will present in-depth
information in a way that the general public
can understand. Participants will be
equipped to take better charge of their own
colon-health and, if they choose, to take
information back to
others in their workplace, church or
other community organizations.
Topics include:
· Colon Cancer,
What Is It?
· Cancer Prevention
Through Nutrition
· Screening Options
· What if I have
Colon Cancer? -- Treatment Options
· A Survivor’s
Story
· How Do I Pay For
This? Low Income Options
· The forum will
close with a panel discussion and an “Ask
the Doctor”
Question and Answer Period.
This community forum is sponsored by
Genentech with additional support from Hope
Through Grace, The University of Texas MD
Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of
Medicine.
Breakfast will be provided and there is no
charge to attend, but seating is limited.
To register or for more information, please
call
713.706.5631 before February 21.
