Queen Victoria presided over the Traditional Dickens Feast on the eve of the Dickens On The Strand Festival at Garten Verein.

Mark Charles Dickens, the great-great grandson of the author, Charles Dickens, was an honored guest at the event.

Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas officially opened the festival with a proclamation in Saengerfest Park.

Following the opening ceremony, Jim and Lynda Guidry talked to Galveston Historical Foundation President Armin Cantini, then took a stroll down The Strand and Postoffice Street to enjoy the sights and sounds of the festival.

The crowd grew much larger for the Queen's Parade Saturday afternoon.

 

   
 

 

 

Following the parade thousands of visitors enjoyed the amenities of the Strand Historic District.

A smaller crowd turned out on Sunday, but the visitors and participants had a great time.  

Galveston Historical Foundation officials say the 32nd Annual Dickens On The Strand was a great success.
