 As
we embark on a new year, the Clear Creek Independent School
District begins a new program for our community – Interested
Neighbors Staying Informed on District Efforts, otherwise
known as INSIDE CCISD.
INSIDE CCISD is an in-depth
10-month leadership program with two-hour sessions that begins
its first inaugural class on January 27. This behind the
scenes, hands-on discovery program allows community members
who live or work in CCISD to learn first-hand how the District
is addressing the challenges of a rapidly growing school
district.
CCISD is extremely excited to
provide our citizens an opportunity to discover how our
District operates. Citizens
will also learn how CCISD makes decisions, how tax dollars are
budgeted and spent, and how curriculum is developed. Each
monthly session addresses a different area of the District’s
operations. The
first meeting will be an opportunity to meet fellow team
members, administrators, school board members and to receive
an overview of how the District functions.
In subsequent sessions,
participants will learn budgeting, finance, demographics, and
long-range planning. Other
sessions will include information about the school officer
liaison program, maintenance and transportation departments
and the “Principal for a Morning” program.
At each meeting participants
will be assigned a color indicating which focus group they
will belong to that provides representation from the 12
municipalities our District serves.
Each focus group will participate in small round table
discussions and have the opportunity to explore issues
in-depth and later report back to the whole team.
INSIDE CCISD participants
will not sit still – the program is designed to be
interactive, hands-on and an open forum for communication.
Tours, demonstrations and school bus rides are just
parts of the whole experience.
Most importantly, INSIDE
CCISD is an opportunity for all our residents in our 12
municipalities to meet one another and foster a neighborhood
connection. Creating
and strengthening relationships is a unique benefit of this
type of program.
INSIDE CCISD mirrors the
state and nationally recognized program in Katy ISD.
After reviewing Katy ISD’s program, known as
Leadership Katy, CCISD reviewed, researched and created a
program specifically designed for our community.
Approximately 30 members will
make-up the inaugural class.
The District will seek new members for the 2006 INSIDE
CCISD class beginning in October 2005.
