Would you please
forward to your friends. There will be three items on the
March 8 agenda pertaining to CCISD.
I want to first state, CCISD is a great School District. I
have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Mossman, School
Board Members, and CCISD Staff on different occasions.
While this one has seemed "not so good", I can
promise you there have many great ones. And this one too, will
be great when all is said and done.
To all citizens that have e-mailed, called, or written
letters.
Thanks you for your comments. I have never been one to run to
the media to state my case. As I said in the previous council
meeting I would go right back to work to help find a solution
for all. I, along with other council members have had a series
of meetings over the past two weeks with CCISD Officials, City
Staff, Residents and other parties pertaining to the
situation. I would not & will not vote for another road (
3 lane dead end road is what was proposed) that will
cause another unplanned traffic nightmare and a safety issue
for all citizens traveling along FM 518.
I have personally spent many hours over the past two weeks to
help find a solution that would benefit all the citizens
of League City and see that their tax dollars are being spent
wisely. We have placed an item on the March 8'th Agenda that
should do just that. I think the Citizens, the neighbors being
directly impacted, the property owners on the North side of
the creek, and CCISD will be happy with what is being
proposed.
It is easy to run to media and state your case and throw your
hands up. Sorry folks, that is not who I am. I go right back
to work to try to resolve the issues. A lot of citizens were
allowed to have their concerns addressed and their questions
answered over the past two weeks. Land owners who would be
giving up land were allowed to sit down with the City and
CCISD and see exactly where they would be giving up land. Many
of these people have been in their homes or land owners for
over 20 years. The residents in Creek Side Estates were able
to meet with City and School officials and express their
concerns on an access road and drainage. It would have been
"popular" to raise your hand and fund a three lane
dead end road. Instead a proposal is being presented that
looks way beyond the immediate "quick fix" with a
vision years ahead.
I personally voted for
the last school bond as a citizen and see the need for this
High School to be built. As I told Dr.Mossman, this High
School will be opened when the CCISD needs it to be
opened.
I think if you take the
time to call Dr. Mossman, Glen Brown, or Fred Niccum, they
will tell you that going back to the table has allowed
everyone to come out winners in this.
I have been on Council now for over 1-1/2 years. Over this
time I have (Dr. Mossman will verify) extended my hand to help
CCISD. And I will continue to do just that. I have lived on
the West Side of League City for over 14 years. I have three
children of my own that have went through LC Elementary, Hall
Elementary,CreekSide Intermediate, and the High Schools.
If you have not gotten a copy of the future demographics that
CCISD compiled last August , I would recommend that you obtain
a copy. The numbers are quite shocking.
I could go on forever but I won't. I do want you to know I am
committed to continue working with the CCISD and all citizens
in League City as your Councilman.
I would like to thank all of the School Officials, Council Members,
and City Staff that worked so graciously hard and moved
their schedules around to make this happen.
I also encourage you to give me a call at anytime. I am always
available to talk or stop by and visit.
Thanks
