Harold
Whatacare is a man of few words, in fact so few words it’s
difficult to decipher exactly why he’s so disgruntled
about the League Of Women Voters candidate forum in
Friendswood.
Maybe
anyone so busy with his hands in so many different places,
like the Galveston Central Appraisal District, Friendswood
City Council, local Drainage District, and School District,
just does not have time or feel compelled to fully explain
himself among common residents.
Perhaps
the FISD appointee to the Galveston Central Appraisal
District (GCAD) was just too busy setting up meetings
between FISD officials and the Chief Appraiser to be
available for any assistance with planning or arrangements
for the candidate forum.
Or
could it be his lack of time and support for this forum was
associated with covert efforts to deny the League Of Women
Voters access to public facilities like City Hall, the
Library, or Senior Activity Center.
If
Mr. Whatacare was really interested in how the results of
this forum were to be reported to neighborhood residents
(not able to attend), maybe he should have stopped to
inquire about such opportunities before leaving the forum.
Certainly, he would have been welcome to stay after the
event and if he was sincere, could have even offered to help
clean up. This might have provided him a chance to hear what
other individuals where saying about the forum. Instead he
hustled out as quickly as possible with his "old
school" candidates.
Seems
like the Appraisal District/Drainage Director was not
supportive of the forum before it happened and now that it's
over, we certainly should not be surprised that he's still
not happy about it.
