Update from Guidry News Service

Guidry News Service is moving our operations from our Galveston office to the new Galveston County Emergency Operations Center in League City, in a building built to withstand a Category 5 Hurricane.  The National Weather Service and the Galveston County Emergency Communications District also are housed in the building.  Thus, it should be a good place to cover landfall.

Many people have expressed interest in how my family is faring.

Lynda has evacuated from Galveston to be with her brother and his family in Beaumont.  They have now fled to San Marcus.

My son Daniel, a Galveston firefighter, will weather the storm either at the San Luis Resort with the rest of the City of Galveston government, or at a staging location in Friendswood.  My grandson Heath, a senior at Ball High School in Galveston, has gone to spend the weekend in the Dallas area with his other grandmother.

We may be out of touch for a few hours while we relocate.  Also we have been having email problems for the past several days and I am not confident they will be resolved.  I should be able to receive email, but may not be immediately able to send.

We will continue to publish virtually every news release and announcement from the governmental entities in our coverage area.

Thanks for visiting our news station.

Jim Guidry
