San Jacinto College

The San Jacinto College Central Music Department will present the Mercury Baroque at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31 in the recital hall of the Music Building, 8060 Spencer Highway in Pasadena as part of its “Spring String Fling.”

Antoine Plante, artistic director of the Mercury Baroque, will host a lecture/performance at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, also in the recital hall.

"The ensemble plays music from a variety of cultures from the 17th and 18th centuries," said a news release.  "Their performances are as historically accurate as possible, with period instruments, costumes and methods."

The concert is a free presentation courtesy of a Cultural Arts of Houston grant and the San Jac Foundation Innovative Initiatives grant.  Aaron Bielish, Central Campus string instrument instructor, arranged the performance.

To reserve tickets, call (281) 476-1501 extension 1901 or email aaron.bielish@sjcd.edu.  For more information about the Mercury Baroque visit www.mercurybaroque.org.
