University of Texas Medical Branch

Seven University of Texas Medical Branch physicians have been included in the consumer guide America's Top Doctors.

The doctors listed are gastroenterologists Drs. Karl Anderson and P. Jay Pasricha; Dr. Gary D. Hankins, maternal and fetal medicine; Dr. Michael H. Malloy, neonatal and perinatal medicine; Dr. Roberto Logrono, pathology, Dr. Russell K. Miller, emergency services, and Dr. Robert M. Hirschfeld, psychiatry.

"Selection was based on the results of an extensive survey mailed to randomly selected, board-certified medical specialists who were asked to nominate physicians who displayed excellence in academic medicine, research and patient care," said a news release.

The survey also asked respondents to nominate physicians they would confidently send family members to see.

“The recognition of these fine physicians demonstrates UTMB’s commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care with compassion and expertise,” said Dr. Valerie M. Parisi, dean of the UTMB School of Medicine.  “They can be especially proud of this honor knowing that they have the privilege of working with equally outstanding physicians and clinical staff who, although not named in this publication, are dedicated to research and clinical care to improve the health of their patients.”
