Adrian
Curtis Blume age 69 of Port Bolivar died Monday,
February 14, 2005 at his residence in Port Bolivar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday,
February 16, 2005 at the Port Bolivar United Methodist
Church with Pastor Mark Pederson and Rev. Mary
Higgins, Phd. officiating. Burial will follow at Port
Bolivar Cemetery under the direction of Carnes
Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston. The family will
receive visitors from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday
at the funeral home.
Born May 16, 1935 in Port Bolivar, Texas to George
William and Esther Josephine Corca Blume, Curtis was a
Commercial Fisherman and a Rancher. A life long
resident of Port Bolivar, Mr. Blume was a member of
the Port Bolivar United Methodist Church, the Eagles
Aries # 3719, the Hurricane Square Dancers Club and
the ICA Cattleman’s Association. He graduated from
Ball High School with the class of 1953. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army and while stationed in
Germany he met “ Buddy” his future brother
in law. He was recalled during the Berlin Crisis and
stationed in Virginia where he met his lovely bride
Barbara Ann Layne. Mr. Blume was a self made man who
paved his own way in this world. He was a builder of
businesses who built shrimp boats and a strong family.
He retired at the age of 65 where he took up Ranching
as a full time seven day a week hobby. His spirit and
love will remain with his children and
grandchildren and be remembered forever.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Carlton Blume, survivors include his wife of 43 years,
Barbara Ann Blume of Port Bolivar; daughters, Betsy
Blume Beck and husband Matt of Sugarland, Adrianne
Blume-Alfaro and husband Oscar of Clear Lake, and
Christine Blume Sherk and husband Jerry of Dickinson;
granddaughter, Jessica Elizabeth Beck and grandson,
Matthew Curtis Beck; and a sister, Beverly Bonita
Comeaux of Port Bolivar; numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be David Ewing, Yale Deviller, David
Edwards, Jamie Edwards, Frank Broudeaux, and Marcus
Comeaux. Memorials may be sent to the Port Bolivar
United Methodist Church. The family would like to
extend a special thank you to Jane and David Ewing for
their love and support during Mr. Blume’s illness.
