Jo
Ann Donnelly found that fighting and
surviving breast cancer through aggressive
treatment in 1993 was just the beginning of
a relationship with others who are
determined to conquer the dreaded disease
and to remember those who have succumbed to
it.
A resident of Burnet Texas, Jo Ann maintains
close ties to Galveston County, specifically
Texas City. “I try to always participate in
the Texas City Relay For Life,” Donnelly
said.
When Donnelly, a quilter, decided to enter a
quilt in Texas City Museum’s quilt exhibit,
she knew exactly what she wanted to do. She
designed her quilt around her collection of
Relay For Life tee shirts to commemorate
past events. “This is the first of my quilts
I've entered in a show. I come to Texas
City quite often and am on the mailing list
since I attended the show last year. I've
been quilting for a few years and it seemed
like a good thing to do with part of my tee
shirt collection.”
Donnelly’s “Survivor” quilt is on display as
part of the Quilt Exhibit being featured at
the Texas City Museum through April 13.
Museum Coordinator Linda Turner says that
the quilt exhibit has been a great success
and is bringing many new visitors to the
facility. The museum is located at 409 6th
Street North in Downtown Texas City. For
