LAMPSON CAMPAIGN TURNING OVER FOOTAGE TO WOMAN WHO CLAIMS ASSAULT BY DELAY SUPPORTER AT CAMPAIGN PRESS CONFERENCE

Houston, TX-Nick Lampson's campaign manager announced this afternoon that their campaign has found footage of a portion of the incident between Richmond resident Marsha Rovai and a DeLay supporter at the Lampson press conference held earlier today.  Channel 2 News showed footage on their 4 pm newscast of a DeLay supporter grabbing Ms. Rovai's hat and jerking it down over her face.  The Lampson Campaign recorded this footage and will be turning it over to Marsha Rovai.  If we receive any more footage, we will turn it over as well.

"Whether or not this was an assault, it was certainly un-Texan," said Lampson campaign manager Mike Malaise.  "People can protest without getting physical.  The fact that these people chose to show up and get physical with a 69 year old woman is disturbing to say the least.  Ms. Rovai will have to decide what she will do next, but Tom DeLay's campaign staged this protest and, as Marsha's Congressman, he owes her a sincere apology.  As for our campaign, we are heartened by the fact that we have received several calls and emails from local Republicans saying they were embarrassed by what took place."
