Please help
us share this information so visitors,
parents and volunteers are prepared when
they come to our campuses. We will be fully
implemented by January 2, 2007.
TCISD has
purchased a new system called V-soft
(Raptor) for all of our schools to help
protect your children. V-soft helps track
visitors, students, faculty, contractors and
volunteers at our schools, thus providing a
safer more monitored environment for
students. The program will be used to screen
registered sex offenders. This is not a
background search for other criminal
information such as traffic tickets,
warrants or felonies. When visitors,
volunteers and contractors check-in, or
parents come to pick up students, they will
be asked to present a valid state issued ID
for entering into the system. V-soft has the
ability to provide alerts on people who may
jeopardize the safety of the campus. We feel
certain this will help us keep our campuses
a little safer.
The data
collected is exclusively for the use of the
school district and law enforcement. If the
system alerts on an individual who may
jeopardize the safety of the campus, then
the campus administrator will meet privately
with that individual to determine the
accuracy of the data alert. If the alert is
positive, the administrator will explain to
the individual that he/she may not proceed
beyond the Visitor Check-In station in the
administrative office area. The School
Liaison Officer (SLO) will check his or her
current restrictions as a sex offender and
will advise the administrator if limitations
exit. (The individual will not be allowed to
leave the reception area to enter any other
campus area without escort by school
personnel or SLO.)
Let me know
if you have any additional questions. I know
Clear Creek ISD has a similar system. I'm
not sure of any other systems like this in
Galveston County.
Thanks!
