‘A
Tribute to the First Man in Space…Santa’
is the theme
for the 9th Annual ‘Holiday in
the Park’ Festival and Parade in League
City
Where can you
find Snow, Santa Claus, an Astronaut, a pet
costume contest and a TV weatherman December
2nd? In League City of course at
the annual Holiday in the Park festival and
parade. Organizers have been working all
year, much like the Elves at the North Pole,
to create a social event to kick off the
holidays in style for their community.
“League City is now the largest city in
Galveston county but still provides that
small town charm. Holiday in the Park is a
free and wonderful event where people can
come down to the historic district and bring
family and friends and enjoy all the fun and
activities in the great atmosphere.
The League
City Proud organization will host the 2-day
family festival at historic League Park
beginning at 9 a.m. Guests may browse at
over 90 vendors lining the park for early
holiday shopping or stop for sweets or
treats to eat. Children may visit the
petting zoo, carnival, or Santa at the
Gazebo while others may sit under the 100+
year old Oak trees and enjoy the continuous
entertainment planned for the 2-day event.
Snow is back by popular demand for kids 9
and under on Sunday. A life-size puppet
show is on tap along with orchestras,
choirs, dancers and more!
We are hosting
our first pet costume contest and we invite
you to dress up your favorite dog or cat in
holiday attire and show them off at the
Park. The 6,7,and 8th Strand
Street Brass Band will entertain in the
evening at the Band Stand.
We
expect our night-time parade to be bigger
and better than ever with a theme that is
out of this world:
“A Tribute to the first man in
space…Santa!” And to lead the parade is our
own hometown hero and first woman Commander
of the NASA Space Shuttle…(retired) Colonel
Eileen Collins. Don’t miss the opportunity
to bring your children and help us honor
her. Our local grand marshal will include
over 50 family members of a founding Italian
family of League City…the Arolfo’s. Johnnie
Arolfo was the first Mayor and he will be
represented by his son Johnnie, Jr. We
welcome back Mr. David Paul, KHOU Channel
11’s morning weatherman who promises we’ll
have great weather at the parade to toss
candy, beads, and wait for Santa’s arrival.
We invite our community far and wide to
hitch up their sleighs and head for League
City and Holiday in the Park. On behalf of
the League City Proud organization we want
to wish you and your family a blessed
holiday season! For more information on the
Entertainment line-up; shopping with our
vendors; or parade details please visit our

See you there.
