Judith Claire Dodds Benzaia, 62, passed away December 3, 2006 at her residence in Santa Fe, Texas. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston with Father Thomas Ponzini celebrant. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas with a rosary to be held at 7:00 pm.

Judy was born September 25, 1944, in Galveston, Texas, to John M. Dodds and Clara Seale Dodds. She attended Galveston Catholic Schools graduating from Dominican High School. She was employed as a secretary for the University of Texas Medical Branch retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. She was of the Catholic faith.

Preceded in death by her parents, Judy is survived by her husband, Johnny Benzaia of Santa Fe; sons, John Benzaia, Jr.  and wife Alice of Texas City and Kirk Benzaia and   Tracie of Santa Fe; daughter, Christy Dane and husband, James of Pleasant Grove, Utah; sisters, Patsy Whitley and husband, Larry of Houston, Betty Jo Dengler and husband, Felton, III of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jean Lea Schurwon and husband, John of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Breana Benzaia, Paige Benzaia, Anna Marie Benzaia, Isabella Benzaia, Sophia Dane, Patrick Simmons and John Paul Benzaia. numerous loving nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be John Schurwon, Larry Whitley, Jr., Brett Mader, Larry Whitley, James Dane and Patrick Simmons.  Honorary pallbearers are Felton Dengler, III and Wallace Trochesset, Sr.
