Dominic “Uncle Dominic” Cambiano passed from this life Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at UTMB in Galveston.

Born February 25, 1912 in Dickinson, TX, Mr. Cambiano had been a resident of Santa Fe for 32 years, previously of Hitchcock.  He had been a life long member and the oldest active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, had been employed as a maintenance mechanic/welder with Union Carbide where he retired after 34 years of service. Dominic enjoyed farming and gardening, had a passion for waterfowl hunting and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather “Po Po” and uncle.

Survivors include his sons, Tommy Cambiano, Sr. and wife, Billye Kay of Santa Fe, Mark Cambiano and wife, Terrie of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Tommy Cambiano, Jr. and wife, Kayla, Chris Aki, Micah Cambiano, Kenneth Popham and wife, Melody, Shelly Rehm and husband, Bruce; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Clint, Blake, Kayla, Kenny; brother, Frank Cambiano and wife, Lucy of Santa Fe; numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

A Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe and Reverend Jerry Lewis as Celebrants.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Friends may visit from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, (409) 925-3579.  Vigil Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Sister Mary Anne Hollmann officiating and a Rosary will follow with Don LeCompte reciting.

Pallbearers will be John Cambiano, David LeCompte, Dennis LeCompte, George LeCompte, Jody LeCompte and Richard LeCompte.  Honorary bearers will be Robert (Robbie) Cambiano, John Koleng and Don LeCompte.
