Joseph Thomas “J. T.” Conway, Jr., 87,
passed away November 3, 2006 at John
Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
pm, November 6, 2006 at Port Bolivar
United Methodist Church in Port Bolivar,
Texas with Rev. Mark Pederson
officiating. Graveside services will
follow at Port Bolivar Cemetery in Port
Bolivar, Texas. The family will receive
friends at the church from 10:00 am
until service time Monday, November 6,
2006.
J.T. was born July 20, 1919 to Joseph
Thomas Conway, Sr. and Lois Wilson
Conway in Beaumont, Texas. He attended
Beaumont schools, graduating from
Beaumont High School with the class of
1937. He was a member of the Beaumont
Electrical Workers AF & AM Local #479,
Shriners and the Blue Lodge. He loved
woodworking in his retirement years and
was considered a good crafts worker. In
his leisure time he enjoyed square
dancing and was a member of The Port
Bolivar United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by his son, Rodney
Conway, J.T. is survived by his loving
wife of 43 years, Evelyn Conway of Port
Bolivar; sons, Jerry Conway and wife
Dolores and Preston Conway and wife
Linda all of Bossier City, Louisiana;
step-sons, Dalton John Schexnaider and
wife Susie and Wilton Schexnaider and
wife Patricia all of Hitchcock, Texas;
11 grandchildren; 21 great
grandchildren; 3 great great
grandchildren; numerous other relatives
and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wilton Lee
Schexnaider, Jr., Patrick Schexnaider,
Kim Conway, Carey Conway, Rodney Conway,
Jr. and Joseph Conway. Honorary
pallbearers are Justin Packard, Brian
Packard, Shawn Rivas, Robert Rivas, Jr.,
Ryan Elkins, Don Mace and Robert Bouse.
