Noel was born April 29, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, however, he has been a longtime Galveston County resident for many years. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country proudly until such time that he was honorably discharged.  Noel held a great love for the sea and its vast and open waters. For the last 38 years, he has been a seaman, employed by Edison Chouest, LLC.  Beginning January, 2007, he was scheduled for special training which would have entitled him to obtain his “Captain’s” license, a very privileged opportunity in his profession.

Noel’s happiest times and biggest enjoyment was gathering with family and friends, spending time together. His jovial personality and wonderful hospitality made for such good times when shared with him.  Noel was a devoted husband and father who loved his family dearly. His memory will live on in the hearts of those that knew him and loved him and he will be greatly missed.

Noel is preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Greenwald.  He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rose Greenwald of La Marque, TX and his two sons, Christopher Noel Greenwald of Galveston, TX and Michael John Greenwald of La Marque, TX.  Sharing in his loss, too, is Noel’s extended family, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Armando and Esther Chapa of La Marque, TX, his sister, Jill Audry Miller of Las Vegas, NV and his brother, Roy Louis Greenwald of Santa Barbara, CA. He is also survived by other loving family, two sisters-in-law, Linda Gionet and husband, Steve of Galveston, TX, and Sonya Dudley and husband, Harry of Santa Fe, TX, his brother-in-law, Ray Chapa of Florida and his numerous loving nieces and nephews, most especially, Brandon and Adam Tong, Nicholas and Jarad Castro, Gabrielle Dudley, Ray Chapa, Ray Ray Chapa, Jerry Junior Pursel, Karen Pursel, Lori Jewett, Scott Greenwald and Jennifer Miller.  Noel’s leaves behind a host of other loving family and many friends, especially, his very good friends, Peter Haros of Tucson, AZ, Bennie Vargas and wife, Mary of Dickinson, TX, Ernie Villarreal and wife, Nora of Katy, TX and Mason Zeidan of Webster, TX and his very best fur friend and pet, “CiCi”.
