W. Eugene "Buddy" Morehead

April 13, 1926 – October 21, 2006

W. Eugene "Buddy" Morehead, 80, of Galveston, Texas passed away at his home on Saturday, October 21, 2006 from complications of cancer.

Buddy Morehead was born in Bay City, Texas and grew up in Angleton, TX.  Buddy was an honorably discharged World War II Naval veteran (1944 – 1946) stationed on the destroyer USS Callahan in the Pacific (Yeoman 2nd Class).  He attended the University of Texas in Austin, TX on the GI Bill where he graduated with a BA degree of Business Administration in 1950.  He was a past Business Manager of the Dickinson Ind. School District for 26 years, and past President of the Houston Area Assoc. of School Business Officials. In 1963 he was appointed a member of the State Commission for Public School Property Accounting by the Texas Commissioner of Education. He was a member of the Board of Directors for both the Pasadena Schools Federal Credit Union, and the Galveston County Memorial Hospital.  He was also an active member and a past President of the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce in 1963 and 1967.

W. Eugene Morehead is survived by sons Paul W. Morehead and wife Shirley, and Stephen E. Morehead and wife Lisa, as well as 2 grandchildren, Melissa Morehead and Alex Morehead, and countless close friends in the Galveston County and surrounding areas.   

A memorial service will be held at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway in Galveston, TX at 10:00 AM on Saturday Nov 4th.
