Mrs. Ira Lee Thomas, 80, of Galveston, Texas departed this life on Thursday, December 28, 2006, at her residence.

Services and burial will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in Tuskegee, Alabama at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. John L. Cantelow, III and Rev. Mr. Stanley Maxwell, officiating.

Born on January 11, 1926, in Huntsville, Texas, Mrs. Thomas was previously an Usher and member of the Avenue L Baptist Church for 27 years. She was a Galveston, resident for over 50 years and retired from employment in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Garrett Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter, Atty. Ernestine Sapp (Dr. Walter) of Tuskegee; three grandchildren, Van Sapp (Donata) of New York, Erik Sapp (Angela) of Virginia and Elizabeth Sapp of Georgia; six great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
