(Dickinson and Santa Fe) In
an unusual display of support, two local
police officer associations back Galveston
attorney Miles Whittington, the challenger,
over his incumbent opponent for Judge of the
212th District Court.
Whittington, a conservative
Republican, was appointed to the 212th
District Court by Governor George W. Bush in
1998 and served until December 31st, 1998.
John Gottlob, President of
the Dickinson Police Officers Association
said, “Miles Whittington understands what
police officers have to deal with. Miles is
a former prosecutor with more than 25 years
of legal and judicial experience. He will be
an asset on the bench.”
Bill Moffett, President of
the Santa Fe Police Officers Association
said, “Miles Whittington is a man of
integrity. He has the qualities Texans
expect in a judge: experience, wisdom,
fairness, and a conservative law and order
philosophy tempered with genuine civility.
We are proud to support Miles Whittington
for Judge of the 212th District
Court.”
Said Whittington, “It’s rare
that a law enforcement association endorses
a challenger over an incumbent judge and I
appreciate both of these law enforcement
groups for making an endorsement based not
on partisan politics or personalities, but
on the qualities, temperament, and skills
that a district judge should possess. I am
honored to have the support of the men and
women who keep our communities and families
safe and, if elected, I will make the 212th
District Court the most efficient and
effective district court in the county.”
In closing, Whittington
stated, “ I would be honored to be the judge
of the 212th District Court. I
ask you to join these local officers and
vote for me in the General Election on
November 7th. Early Voting starts
on October 23rd. Please visit my website at:
