Severe Weather Report...Delayed Issuance

...Severe thunderstorm produces a 59 mph wind gust at Jamaica
Beach...
At 5:40 AM CDT this morning...a severe thunderstorm produced a wind
gust of
51 knots (59 mph) from West at the Jamaica Beach Weather
Observatory. The
National Weather Service Office in League City was immediately
notified and a
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued at 5:19 AM CDT for southern
Galveston
County was extended until 6:30 AM CDT (see warning text below).
A utility pole and power lines were blown down across the street
from the weather
station. As a result, electricity was out for over 5 hours at the
Jamaica Beach
Weather Observatory delaying the issuance of this report. Utility
crews with
Reliant Energy restored power at 10:48 AM this morning.
So far today, a total of 0.44 of an inch of rain has fallen in
Jamaica Beach.
