The Clear
Creek
Independent
School
District is
blessed to
have a
community
who cares
about
student
achievement.
Not only do
we have
strong
community
support, our
teachers,
staff, Board
of Trustees
and
administrators
are
dedicated to
ensuring
that EVERY
child
achieves
academic
success.
On August 1
our district
was informed
that Clear
Creek ISD
received the
“Recognized”
rating from
the Texas
Education
Agency.
This
outstanding
news is
truly
representative
of the
quality
educational
offerings
that are
provided to
our students
by quality
educators.
We also
learned that
our district
is the
record-holder
for large
school
districts
receiving
the
“Recognized”
rating.
Clear Creek
ISD is the
only school
district of
its size to
receive the
“Recognized”
rating nine
times since
the Texas
Accountability
Rating
System went
into effect
in 1995.
The
“Recognized”
rating is
the highest
designation
earned to
date by any
school
district
with more
than 25,000
students.
Clear Creek
ISD is the
27th
largest
district in
the state,
serving more
than 35,000
students in
12
municipalities
and two
counties.
District
wide Texas
Academic
Knowledge
and Skills (TAKS)
scores rose
2 percent in
reading/English
language
arts to a 95
percent
passing
rate; one
point in
math to an
88 percent
passing rate
and four
points in
science to
an 86
percent
passing
rate. Scores
remained
steady in
writing at
97 percent
and social
studies at
95 percent.
This year
our district
doubled the
number of
“Exemplary”
campuses
from five in
2005 to 10
in 2006.
Overall, 80
percent of
our
District’s
35 campuses
have earned
“Exemplary”
or
“Recognized”
Ratings.
In fact,
Clear Lake
City
Elementary
received the
“Exemplary”
rating for
the first
time; Ross
Elementary,
a Title I
campus,
received the
“Exemplary”
rating; and
Hyde
Elementary
went from an
“Academically
Acceptable”
rating to an
“Exemplary”
rating.
Our
secondary
campuses are
also
celebrating
their
victories.
Six of our
eight
intermediate
schools
received the
“Recognized”
rating.
League City
Intermediate,
one of our
largest
intermediate
schools, is
only four
students
away from
achieving
the
“Exemplary”
rating.
Westbrook
Intermediate
opened last
fall and
also
received the
“Recognized”
rating.
Other than
the high
schools,
Westbrook is
the only
intermediate
school that
has all the
sub-populations
count in its
rating.
This
accomplishment
is nearly
impossible
and marveled
at by other
school
districts.
Clear Lake
High School
attained the
“Recognized”
rating for
the second
consecutive
year.
Our district
wide goal is
to earn the
“Exemplary”
district
status. We
are certain
that this is
an
achievable
target.
Our Board of
Trustees,
principals,
teachers and
staff are
highly
motivated to
accomplish
this goal.
Many
programs
already have
been
implemented
to ensure
the academic
success for
all students
this year.
These
programs
include
before,
during and
after school
tutorials,
target
classes,
teacher
mentors for
the
individual
students,
family fun
education
nights, and
many more.
