Gulf Coast Big Brothers & Big Sisters Says Thanks

by Executive Director Cindy Schulz

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Gulf Coast Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Inc. (GCBBBS), I would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the following individuals and businesses that provided food baskets, clothes, and toys to over 100 families in our program during this Holiday Season:  Kiwanis Club of Galveston, Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School-Texas City, Prudential Gary Greene Realtors, Executive Career Women, Curves, Physical Therapy Services, Elks Lodge #126 B POE, Wal-Mart #529-La Marque, Texas WorkSource, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Angel Tree, Hatmaker Chiropractic, Yogurt Technologies, Wal-Mart-Galveston, Kleen Supply, Charlie and Carol Collier, H.E.B.-Dickinson, and the Texas City/La Marque Chamber of Commerce.  Because of their generosity, our kids and their families had a brighter Christmas filled with the joy, excitement, and magic that we all take for granted during the Holiday Season.

In addition, our sincere thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Tilman Fertitta, Michelle Beckwith and the staff of the San Luis Hotel, for hosting our annual community-based Christmas party for 175 “Bigs” and “Littles” on December 10.  A spectacular buffet provided by members of the GCBBBS Board of Directors was enjoyed by all.  Santa Claus and his elves presented each of our Little Brothers and Little Sisters with two gifts from the agency.

And last, but not least, our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the 50-plus individuals and businesses that made a contribution to our “Adopt a Child for Christmas” campaign which enabled GCBBBS to buy over 250 gifts for the kids in our community-based and school-based programs.  Your generosity was overwhelming!  Without your donations, many of the kids in our program would not have had any presents at all.  Seeing the faces of the children light up as they received their gifts reaffirmed that the spirit of giving is truly alive and well in Galveston and Galveston County.

Each one of you was instrumental in making Christmas 2006 one that we will always remember.  Thank you!
