The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association Fall Conference was held at the Galveston Island Convention Center. Agenda

Sheri Land, John Lee and Jerry Mohn were co-chairs of the conference.  ASBPA President Harry Simmons presided over the event.  Jerry Patterson, Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, and John Paul Woodley, Jr., Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, were keynote speakers.

October 25, 2007 -- American Shore and Beach Preservation Association President Harry Simmons said the Fall Conference in Galveston was a big success. October 24, 2007 -- The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association and the Texas General Land Office presented awards on Tuesday evening. Jerry Mohn received the Member of the Year Award from the ASBPA and State Senator Michael Jackson received a Coastal Stewardship Award. More
October 23, 2007 -- Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson today announced a $13.5 million beach restoration project for the Galveston Island beachfront, west of the Seawall. Patterson said the project will create a 200-foot wide beach from the end of the Galveston Seawall to Spanish Grant subdivision. This project is the biggest in Texas history, and may even get bigger. October 22, 2007 -- ASBPA President Harry Simmons presided over a four-minute Annual Meeting at the end of the first day, then moderated an interview with with two coastal experts, Joe Moseley of HDR Shiner Moseley and Billy Edge of Texas A&M University. More
October 22, 2007 -- Fall Conference Co-Chair Jerry Mohn officially opened the meeting at 1 p.m. ASBPA President Harry Simmons, Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas and County Judge Jim Yarbrough made remarks. The first speaker was James R. Houston, who discussed "The Economic Value of Beaches." More
