Freddie Poor has been elected Sheriff of Galveston County.  The victory was not assured until after a count of several thousand mail-in ballots, a process that lasted until this afternoon.  The final numbers are 51,118 for Poor, 49,559 for Campbell.

Incumbent District Judge Lonnie Cox and Tax Assessor Collector Cheryl Johnson were reelected.

The City of Galveston 4B Sales Tax was approved, as were the three Galveston County Bond Issues, and three Santa Fe Independent School District Bond issues.

Voters in the Galveton Independent School District and the Friendswood ISD reelected incumbents.  Galveston voters agreed to continue a 4B Sales Tax.

Galveston County voters approved three bond issues for road and drainage improvements as well as facilities improvements and new construction.

Jefferson County voters elected Michael "Shane" Sinegal to fill the Commissioner Precinct 3 position left vacant by the retirement of Waymon Hallmark.

State Representative Joe Deshotel was reelected.
