Carroll Lewis Murphy

Mr. Carroll Lewis Murphy passed from this life Friday, December 22, 2006, at his home.

Born August 10, 1926 in Tipton, Oklahoma, Mr. Murphy had been a resident of Galveston most of his life.  He had been employed as a police officer with the Galveston Police Department for about 12 years, UTMB Hospital Security and the Galveston Wharves P. D. where he retired in 1986, served in the US Air Force and was a member of the National Maritime Union. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirby Francis and Lena Anne (Parrott) Murphy; brother, Hanley Lyglen Murphy and is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Jean Murphy; son, Kenneth Ray Murphy and girlfriend, Barbara of Colorado; stepson, Michael Lewis Tulp and wife, Kit of Galveston; step granddaughters, Nicole Raamot, Danielle Ring, Jessica Smith; step great-grandchildren, Austin Raamot, Dillon Raamot, Lauren Raamot.

Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Fontenot officiating.  A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. 

Friends may visit with the family from 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6161 Savoy, Houston, TX 77036.
