Webmaster Jason Adriance launches
the new GuidryNews.com
Guidry News Service, with the assistance of Webmaster Jason Adriance, has launched a new data-driven website, GuidryNews.com, The Online News Station.
Although the "look" of the new site is much crisper and navigation for the visitor should be improved, many of the changes will not be apparent to the casual observer. The "back end" changes will improve the process of posting articles by GuidryNews reporters from anywhere in the world. They also will permit us to include additional features, such as shopping carts to purchase audio and photo files, subscriptions to Gulf Coast E-news and other services.
When Guidry News Online was first published in 1997, Internet technology was in its infancy. During the past nine years, with the technical help of Jim Young and Daniel Eksusian and others, the site evolved into a complex news organ providing up to the minute information in Galveston, Harris and Jefferson Counties.
It has been apparent for several years that the site needed to be converted to a data-driven platform that would automate many of the functions and provide greater consistency throughout the publication. For the past three years we have been seeking bids on redesign of the site to accomplish this.
We were concerned about exorbitant estimates of the cost of such a project, and about the ability of those bidding on the service to accomplish it within budget and deadline.
Jason Adriance, who has worked as a technical advisor to Guidry News Service for several years, and who has always been able to accomplish his goals, was selected for the project in the Fall of 2006.
The site was officially launched at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13. Additional changes will be made over the next few weeks.
We hope that you enjoy our product.
