Nancy "Madea" Johnson

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 

Nancy "Madea" Johnson, 91, died Wednesday, January 16, 2007 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston.

Born October 12, 1915, to William and Nancy Dugard of Bay City, Texas, Nancy Johnson lived the majority of her life in Galveston, Texas.  Mrs. Johnson was of the Baptist faith and married a second and final time to Clem Johnson in 1940.  She was a lifelong devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by husband, Clem Johnson; two sons, David T. Hall Jr.,Samuel Johnson and daughter Nancy M. Broussard.

Left to cherish Mrs. Johnson's memory are her only daughter, Olive Johnson-Alridge of Galveston; son-in-law Carl L. Alridge; daughter-in-law Kimiko Ueno Hall of San Francisco; granddaughters, Jacqueline Heinz Schmitt-Hall, of Germany; Ianthia Hall-Smith of San Francisco; Deborah Broussard of Galveston; grandsons, Walter Broussard Jr., of Texas City; David Broussard of Houston, Reginald Broussard of Michigan; Shawn Broussard of Galveston; Emanuel R. Corpus of Indianapolis; Dominique Corpus of Texas City; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; several nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by a wake from 7-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2007 in the chapel of Wynn Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 in the Chapel of Wynn Funeral Home.  Brother Roy Osband will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.

The family would like to send special thanks and appreciation to Danforth Gardens Nursing Home of Texas City and UTMB's 10-A Geriatric team of doctors, nurses and staff for the love and care of our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nancy Johnson will be greatly missed.
