Frank H. Edwards, Jr.
Hayes Funeral Home

Frank H. Edwards, Jr. 75, of Hitchcock, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007, in Galveston, Texas.  He was born December 24, 1931 in Galveston to Frank H. Edwards, Sr. and Edith F. Croft.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Doris E. Edwards; parents Frank and Edith Edwards; brother Thomas C. Edwards and his brother-in-law, Richard Connor.

Frank is survived by his children, Charles W. “Butch” Edwards and wife, Virginia, Karen E. Ivey and husband, Tom; sister, Judy Connor; sister-in-law, Suzanne Presley and husband, Ed; sisters-in-law, Joan Runnalls, Phyllis Garms; brother-in-law, Walter Mosher; grandchildren, Scott M. Edwards and wife, Kristy, Ashley G. Edwards, Danielle M. Ivey, Kristen E. Ivey; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie E. Edwards; nieces, nephews and numerous other loving relatives.  Frank is also survived by special friend, Louise Watts and many other close friends.

Frank served in the United States Air Force with the 29th Air Rescue Squadron from 1951 to 1954 where he made many lifelong friends.  After leaving the Air Force, Frank went to work for Union Carbide where he retired in 1994 after more than 38 years of dedicated service.  While a resident of Hitchcock, he was a lifelong member of the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department where he retired as a First Assistant Chief after many years of service to his community.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department, under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.  A private burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.  The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. at the station.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the SICU staff at John Sealy Hospital with heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lori Pounds, M. D.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department Truck Fund, P.O. Box 546, Hitchcock, TX 77563 and/or the Hospice Care Team, Inc., 1708 N. Amburn Rd., Texas City, TX 77591.
