COM vocal arts groups to give Alaskan performances
Last summer they gave a stirring performance in Rome with Saint Peter’s Basilica as their backdrop. This summer glaciers off the coast of Alaska provide the setting as the College of the Mainland vocal arts groups entertain passengers aboard an Alaskan cruise ship.
Dr. James Heffel, professor of music in performing and visual arts at COM, announced that the groups—the Mainland Chorale and Mainland Singers—will be featured artists for multiple performances aboard Royal Caribbean’s “Vision of the Seas” on a 7 day cruise of Alaska in late May. Both groups will perform a program of Broadway and light classic repertoire.
Those wanting to join either group are not required to join the tour, but may do so if space is yet available. For further information about COM Vocal Arts Groups or the Alaska Performance Cruise, telephone or email Joyce Palmer at 409-938-1211, Ext. 348, jpalmer@com.edu; or Dr. James Heffel at Ext. 200, jheffel@com.edu.
