Ida Merial Jordan Samuels


GALVESTON - Ida died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 surrounded by her loving family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Doshia Jordan Scott and Moses Jordan; two brothers; Clarence Delaney and Frank Jordan; two sisters; Alice Freeman and Mona Lisa Walker; 4 uncles, 2 aunts, 1 nephew and 1 great-nephew.
 
Ida is survived by her three children; daughter Tawana Samuels-Lewis (Don); sons, Shedrick III (La Kiesha) and Anthony (Demetria).  Also left to cherish her memory are 3 sisters, Bertha Jordan, JoAnn Davis and Eugenia Meyers (Rodney) all of Galveston.  In addition, she will be sorely missed by her 9 grandchildren; Jeremy, Anquisha; Antigua, Trey, Jaleel, De'Yona, Kynndal, Kynnedy, Anthony Jr. and great grand-daughter, Jeriah.  Special friend James Stanley will also cherish her memory.
 
Ida was employed at St. Mary's Hospital, GISD and at Home Health.
 
The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver, Dora Ventures, for the professional care, kindness and compassion extended to Ida during her illness. Also, Dr. Grumbles, Dr. Stephanie, Dr. Kimbrough, Beverly, Shirley, Linda, Lupe, Christina and other Hospice staff members will always be remembered for their tenderness and professionalism.  And, special thanks to Reverend Nathaniel Brown for his constant prayers, Mr. Wynn, Issac King, Brenda Burnside, Sadie Lundy and Annie Mae Conley for your love and support during our beloved Ida's illness.
 
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Gospel Baptist Church, 3818 Ball, Galveston, Texas.  Reverend Nathaniel Brown will officiate.
