GALVESTON - Cecil G. Rose, 75, departed this life on Friday, February 2, 2007, at UTMB Hospital.
Cecil was born on June 2, 1931, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica to Adam and Annie Palmer Rose. Cecil was a merchant seaman and retired after 40 years of service. He also enjoyed cooking and had a very friendly personality that allowed him to never meet a stranger. He was always willing to give a helping hand to those who were in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Freddie Perry and one sister.
Left to cherish memories are his devoted wife, Doris Rose of Galveston; daughters, Dorothy Holloway (J.B.) of Houston and Shellie Allen of Galveston; 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Hizar Bonner and Buster Plunkett both of Mt. Vernon, NY; sister, Dezrine Rose of Queens, NY; sister in law, Irene Keys; devoted friends, Alston Brown, Benton Hudson, Nidus Abraham, Keith Patterson and O. N. James; a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will begin at 11AM on Friday, February 9, 2007, followed by funeral service at 1:00 PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary, with Rev. A. S. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. |
