Earnest Wright, Sr.
Hayes Funeral Home

Mr. Earnest Wright, Sr. passed from this life Tuesday morning, February 20, 2007, in Webster.

Born May 3, 1929 in Applebee, Mr. Wright was a longtime resident of Santa Fe, having also lived in Trinity for 17 years.  He had been a carpenter his whole life and retired as a general foreman contractor with the U. S. Civil Service after 25 years where he primarily worked with the Coast Guard.  He was a member of CalvaryBaptistChurch in Trinity, bowled alongside his wife with the Golden Age Stars on the Huntsville Bowling League, enjoyed fishing and was know as the “hush puppy master” to his family.

Preceded in death by his son, Gary; sister, Charlene Brandon and brother, Clater Arlis “Hooks” Wright, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean Wright; children and their spouses, Earnest Wright, Jr., and wife Becky of Santa Fe, Carolyn and Jason Hanes of La Marque, Frances and Chuck Gilland, Cache, Ok, Bill and Joy Wright of Pasadena, Stacie and Lawrence Valdez of Texas City; brother, A. C. Wright of Garrison; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Jeremy Crabb, Dean Davis, Jody Davis, Bryan Gilland, Matt Gilland, Joseph Valdez, Gary Wright and Tommie Wright.  Honorary bearers will be Clint Wright and Willie Wright.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. today, February 22, 2007, at First Baptist Church of Hitchcock, Pastor Bobby Cain and Dr. Mark Neeley officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest ParkEastCemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.  www.hayesfuneralhome.com
