Mary Bell Devotie Currie
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

The Greatest Wife and Mom

Our wonderful and beloved wife and mother, Mary Bell Devotie Currie, 82, of Galveston, Texas was born November 28, 1924 on the island and passed away into the Lords loving hands on February 21, 2007.  She showed great strength and fortitude as she heroically held on through a 10 month battle before succumbing to complications from a massive stroke.  Her faith remained eternal throughout.  We rejoice that she is now with Jesus.  She will be remembered for her incredibly strong faith, loving and selfless ways and her beautiful brown eyes and warm smile.  Most of all, her love, compassion and guidance as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Albert and Cora May Bell Devotie.  She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, John J.W. Currie, three loving daughters, Emma Johnson and husband Frank; Mary Ann Jackson and husband, Robert; and Carol Currie; nine grandchildren: Julie and Chip, Lisa, Kevin and Danielle, Amanda, Renni, Trenton and Amy.  She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Devin and Marissa; and a lifelong friend, Ercilia Kalsnes.

Special thanks for her care by her nursing staff at The Heritage Retirement Community in Tomball, Texas and Lighthouse Hospice.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston.  A rosary will be held at 3:30 PM.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 26, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Malloy & Son with Pastor Paul Frerking officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Frank Johnson, Robert Jackson, Kevin Bailey, Chip Hash, Rocky Sealy, Vernon Massey and John Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers are Danielle, Amanda, Renni, Devin and Marissa Bailey; Trenton Jackson; Louie Johnson; Gilbert, Job, J.T. and Sean Currie; and Dennis Bertolino.

For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever should believeth in Him, shall not parish, but have eternal life.  John 3:16
