Myria Jane McCarter, 79, received her reward of eternal rest on Saturday, February 24, 2007, at her residence.
Myria was born August, 2, 1927, in Wiergate, Texas to the union of Rush and Maria Mattox McCarter. She attended public school in the Wiergate community. A longtime resident of Galveston, she also attended beauty school and was a retired LVN working in the home healthcare field. She was a faithful member of the JerusalemBaptistChurch. Myria had a very loving spirit and was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. She was always full of life, which led her to teaching a P.M.A. (Positive Mental Attitude) class at the Galveston County Senior Citizens Center, where she joined other seniors in their daily recreation.
Myria was preceded in death by her parents and son, Herbert Bradley.
She leaves with cherish memories a very devoted grandson whom she loved dearly, Sean Bradley of Austin, TX; nephew, James C. Shankle of Beaumont, TX; niece, Jean Shankle of Waco, TX; God daughter, Carolyn Malone and daughter Shardania Johnson of LaMarque, TX; devoted friends, Gladys Gilford of Galveston and Thomas Chatmon, Jr. and family of Lamarque; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10Am on Saturday, March 3, 2007, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 AM at JerusalemBaptistChurch with Pastor A.S. Johnson, officiating. She will be laid to rest at LakeviewCemetery.
