Dorothy Sue Crockett
, 79, received her reward of eternal rest on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Mainland Medical Center.
Dorothy was born December 7, 1927, in Huntsville, Texas to the union of Lonnie and Ethel Maxey Moten. She attended public school in Galveston and was a 1946 graduate of Central High School. She later attended Galveston College. Most of her career was spent as a Reading Technician, helping many students with their reading skills before her retirement. She also was a faithful member of the St. John Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Melvin Crockett, Sr..
She leaves with cherished memories, devoted daughter, Carolyn L. Smith of Texas City; devoted sons, Melvin Crockett, Jr. of Texas City and Bernard W. Crockett of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Danielle K. Livingston of Lithia Spring, GA, Ayanna Johnson, Rahru Arceneaux and William Crockett all of Atlanta, GA; a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will begin at 4PM on Friday, March 16th, followed by a wake from 7-8PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the St. John Baptist Church, with Pastor Louis Simpson, Jr., officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery
