Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Melba Lee OdomMelba Lee Odom, 88, passed away March 12, 2007 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2007 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time Friday.

Melba was born in Greene County, Mississippi on October 16, 1918, to Charlie Thomas and Cora Elizabeth Geddie Turner. She attended school in Richton, Mississippi graduating from Richton High School after playing football with the high school team. She enjoyed traveling and going to the casinos. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Phyllis Stone, one sister, two brothers, a great grandchild and sons-in-law, Greg Willoughby and Charles Bremermann, Melba is survived by her daughters, Barbara Bremermann and J. R. Flores, Donnis Willoughby, JoAnn Donkin and husband, Kevin and Elaine Morse and husband, Paul; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Berryhill and Jewel Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Willie Brememann, Donald Brememann, Richard Doshier, Paul Morse, Jr, Paul “Trey” Morse, III, and Kevin Donkin
