Doris Naomi Sanderford

Mrs. Doris Naomi Sanderford  Doris Naomi Sanderford passed from this life Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born October 28, 1934 in Donna, TX, Mrs. Sanderford had been a resident of Santa Fe for 44 years, previously of Galveston.  She had been employed as a LVN for 25 years with Galveston County Memorial Hospital, was a member of Arcadia Christian Church and enjoyed making crafts, gardening, collecting antique dolls and especially loved spending time with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Franklin Ivey, Sr. and Sally Elizabeth (Thomas) Ivey; brothers, John Franklin Ivey, Jr., Clarence McCoy Ivey; sister, Baby Ivey.

Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Gene Sanderford, Sr.; sons, Billy Sanderford and wife, Alana of Sun City, AZ, Gene Allen Sanderford, Jr. and wife, Theresa of Montgomery, Clarence Sanderford and wife, Donna of League City; daughter, Joyce Anders and husband, Dennis of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Jason Anders, Stacey Viner, Jennifer Potrykus, Justin Sanderford, David Sanderford, Annamarie Sanderford, Christina Sanderford; great-grandchildren, Logan Anders, Drew Viner; brothers, Lloyd Ivey and wife, Olean of Quitman, MS, Ralph Ivey and wife, Faye of Belle Chasse, LA, Lee Ivey and wife, Diane of Pine Hill, AL.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Arcadia Christian Church with Brother Tom Medlin officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Dennis Anders, Jason Anders, Billy Sanderford, Clarence Sanderford, Gene A. Sanderford, Jr. and Justin Sanderford.  Honorary bearer will be David Sanderford.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.  The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Amed Hospice, especially Connie, Sue, Elyse, Jeri and Debbie.
