Mrs. Peggy Dean (Ballard) King passed from this life Monday, March 19, 2007, in Houston.
Born July 28, 1931 in Lockney, TX, Mrs. King had previously been a resident of Las Vegas for 23 years. A longtime resident of Hitchcock, TX, she had been employed as the Tax Assessor Collector of Hitchcock. She was an accountant for several years, but mainly wife, mother and grandmother. The youngest of 12 children, she was a lifelong Methodist and led a wonderful life of value.
She is preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Olivia Claire Mooney; parents, Henry E. and Grace Truman (Jameson) Ballard; brothers and sisters, Bill Ballard, T. B. Graves, J. W. Ballard, Grace Harris, Cornelia Johnson, Boyd Ballard and Henry Ballard.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 57 years, Carl King; daughters, Cynthia Ann Swain and husband, Gerard of Austin, Trudie Lee Myers and husband, Carey of Dayton, MD, Sammie Elaine Mooney of League City, Terry Lou Smith and husband, Ernie of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Noah King Hansford and wife, Renee, Arthur O. Evans, IV, Jett Daniel Smith and wife, Evelyn, Zachary Thomas Mooney and wife, Rachel, Joseph Randal Smith and wife, Carolyn, Kelly Jean Mooney, Matthew Thomas Myers, Carl Allen Smith and wife, Stephanie, Courtney Lee Myers, Catherine Ballard Myers, Elizabeth Glenn Breeding, Rebecca Lynn Breeding, Mark Andrew Smith, James Vaughan Smith, John Pennington Smith, Samuel King Smith, April Swain; great-grandchildren, R. Lauren Hansford, Hilary Katherine Hansford, Sophie Louise Mooney, Luke Thomas Mooney, Julia Rose Smith, Amelia Jane Smith, Matthew James Smith, Jenna Ashley Smith, Claire Marie Smith; sisters, Nell McMorris of Coppers Cove, TX, Francis Golden of Valley Mills, TX, Dorothy Guinn of Bullard, TX.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Whitmore officiating. A private graveside service will be conducted at HoustonNationalCemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
All of Peggy’s friends and relations are honorary bearers because she loved everyone.
