Shirley Faye
Washam passed away Friday, March 23, 2007 at
St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Houston.
She left many friends who respected, loved
and will miss her dearly. Funeral services
will be Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 10:00
a.m. at Port Bolivar United Methodist Church
with Rev. Mark Pederson officiating. Burial
will follow at Port Bolivar Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Cames Brothers Funeral
Home in Galveston, Texas, Monday, March 26,
2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Shirley resided in Port Bolivar for over 37
years with her husband John Washam. She
worked as a bookkeeper and was promoted to
Vice President of Texas First Bank in
Crystal Beach working there many years
before accepting a position working for Greg
Cobb as Bookkeeper for Cobb Real Estate.
Shirley and John were very active with the
Hurricane Square Dancing Club, a member of
the Poker-Keno Club and Friday Night Domino
Group at Port Bolivar Methodist Church. She
had a special talent for decorating and
loved to cook and sew.
Preceded in death by her parents, Tom and
Lema Cobb of Houston and one brother, Donald
Cobb of Houston, Shirley is survived by her
loving husband John of Port Bolivar; her son
Tom Garney of College Station; and her
daughter, Connie Engholm of Port Bolivar.
She has two grandsons, Howard Garney and
Edward Van Buskirk as well as one
granddaughter, Sherry Thomas. Shirley also
has twin great grandsons-Christopher and
Campbell. She had one sister-in-law,
Marcelie Cobb of Houston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in
Shirley�s name to Port Bolivar United
Methodist Church or the Port Bolivar
Volunteer Fire Department.
