Marjorie "Jean" Beard

Marjorie “Jean” Beard, 77, went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2007 at her residence.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Onda officiating.  Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

Jean was born on September 19, 1929 in Galveston, TX where she was also raised, and had been a resident of Santa Fe for 33 years.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and a longtime member of St. John’sLutheranChurch where she was on the council and held many positions.  She played an instrumental part in the resurrection of H. I. S. Ministries in January of 1991, served in the VFW Post 5400 Ladies Auxiliary, was a past Madame President and stood beside her husband who served as past Post Commander.  She was an active member of the Bunko and Canasta Clubs and she loved to travel with family and friends.  She also loved to visit her camp house in Zavalla, TX – a place she and her husband built together many years ago – a place she went to relax and be closer to him.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Beard, Sr.; parents, John O. and Elizabeth Carter; sister, Dorothy Farrow and husband, L. D.; brother, John O. Carter, Jr. and wife, Violet; beloved granddaughter, Carol Pierce.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Williamson and husband, Bob, Karen Foster and husband, Bill; son, Jack E. Beard, Jr. and wife, Debbie; niece, Vicki Farrow; grandchildren, Karrie Huskey, Amy Perkins, Becky Ennis, Anna Ritter, Jared E. Beard, Jason E. Beard; step grandchildren, Chris and Timothy Williamson, Mardi Shifflett; 19 great-grandchildren with one due to be born in August; her best friends, Mabel Brauer and Anna Mae Oliver; countless other dear friends with whom she regarded highly.

The family would like to thank A-Med Community Hospice and all of the special nurses who were instrumental in keeping her comfortable and peaceful.  A very special thanks goes out to Mabel Brauer for taking such wonderful care of her and for being there in every way possible.  She was her “rock” as her sincere friendship kept Jean strong.  Jean will be tremendously missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to A-Med Community Hospice, 8901 Emmett F. Lowry Expy, Ste. B, Texas City, TX77591, (409) 935-0169.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren per her personal request, Karrie Huskey, Amy Perkins, Becky Ennis, Anna Ritter, Jared E. Beard and Jason E. Beard.  We love you Grandma.
