Lena Porteous Whitfield, 62, died Monday, March 26, 2007. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, March 29, 2007 with funeral services to be at 7:00 pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont.

Lena was born December 5, 1944 in Galveston, Texas. She found her true calling working for the Lord in the Christian Women's Club. She was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church of Galveston. She was a loving wife and mother.

Preceded in death By her father, James Porteous, Lena is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ron Whitfield; mother, Mildred Porteous Habib; brothers, Jimmy Porteous, Todd Habib, and Joe Habib, Jr.; daughters, Michelle Ausmus and husband, Randy, Kimberly Henneke and husband Melvin Henneke, Stacy Spanos and husband Frank; five granddaughters, Megan Ausmus, Candice, Caroline and Courtney Henneke and Tiffany Spanos; grandson, Ronnie Spanos and a host of friends.
