Mary Monsibais Garcia
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Mary MonsibaisMary Monsibais Garcia, age 74 formerly of Galveston passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2007 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, Father John Paul Flajole, OFM and the Reverend Rudy Soto officiating.

Mary was born January 27, 1933 in Alice, Texas to the late Francisco and Jeronima Monsibais. Growing up in Galveston, Mary was lovingly referred to by the family and her friend as “Red Top”. Mary graduated from Ball High School class of 1951 and at the age of 20 she married Pedro “Feto” Garcia in Galveston. In 1957 she moved her family to Southern California where she created a loving extended family of friends. It has always been her desire to come home to Galveston to be at peace and rest with her departed parents.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving daughters, Diana Maria Garcia, and Belinda Kay Garcia-Quiriz and husband Terry, granddaughter, Michelle Marie Venable and husband Marcel, great granddaughter, Madison Marie Venable all of California;  brother, Francisco Monsibais, Jr. and wife Dora; sister, Palmira Morales and husband Raymond, all of Galveston; nephews, Steven Morales and wife Sandy, Richard Morales and wife Sophie, Mike Morales, Raymond Morales, Jr., “Sonny” Morales, Andy Morales and Francisco “ Frankie” Monsibais, III;  numerous other relatives and friends.

A special thanks to the wonderful physicians, RN’s, and PCT’s of the 10th floor at UTMB. The care given to Mary was thoughtful, compassionate and from the heart. We also want to thank all of her friends and family who gave her strength and love for the journey home.
