Lula Mae Lofton

Life peacefully came to a close for Lula Mae Lofton on the afternoon of April 7, 2007, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.
Lula was born on August 3, 1923, in Yeola, LA to Jordan and Viola Crear. She later moved to Galveston, where she met Mr. James Lofton, Jr., who preceded her in death. She united with the Live Oak Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
She also was preceded in death by her son, Jordan A, Crear, two brother and three sisters.
She leaves to cherish memories, daughter, Helen Cartwright (Verdel); son, John Lofton, Sr. (Flora); stepchildren, Maxine Howard, Arthur Lofton (Lula Mae ) and Leon Lofton (Florine) 28 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Leola Block (James, Sr.), Gertrude Guillory (Herman, Sr.), Loubertha Trent and Theresa Siverand; brothers, Leroy Crear (Louise), Leon Siverand, Wilbert Lee Siverand (Ella Marie), Willie Siverand, Elba Siverand (Eloise), Sterling Siverand, Jr., Marion Siverand (Bertha); daughter in-law Laura Crear; devoted niece, Elnor McNeil; devoted friends, Thelma Justice and Johnny Young; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4PM on Friday, April 13th followed by a wake from 7-9PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the Live Oak Baptist Church, with Pastor Vernon L. Baines, officiating, Rev. Byron Williams, eulogist. She will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
